A little history. Whence there was this MIRACLE — the British cat as who was at sources?
The basis of the British short-haired breed of cats was made by native cats of Great Britain. Officially breed has been recognised under the name of «short-haired breed» in the eighties a XIX-th century to that it is obliged to Englishman Harrisonu Viru. However since 60th years of the last century the shape of breed has essentially changed, thanks to carrying out of the purposeful selection directed on integration and weighting of animals. The structure and a wool structure has changed also — it became more gentle to the touch and was enriched with a dense underfur, became «plush». This selection work was accompanied by addition of blood of cats of breed Shartrese and Persian. As a result, in 1984 breed has obtained an official recognition under the modern name «British short-haired».

Also what these cats are? What their pedigree data, standards? So, the British cat is a cat from an average till the large size, a massive constitution, with heavy skeleton. At the given breed cats are much larger and stronger than cats. A body of average length, roundish, equally wide in shoulders and a croup. Feet rather short, thick, powerful; paws dense, round. A tail of average length, thick in the basis, slightly narrowed to the rounded off tip. A head big, the roundish form, with the developed cheeks. In a profile considerably easy deepening on transition from moderately convex forehead to a short wide nose. A muzzle of average length, wide, with roundish small pillows moustaches. A chin powerful. Ears of average size, short, are widely placed, with the rounded off tips. Eyes roundish, big, are widely placed. Colour of eyes is defined according to color an animal. Wool of the British cat short, very dense, not adjoining, with the plentiful underfur, springing at a touch.

We choose to ourselves the favourite not for one year (and British live till 20 years), and we choose not only under the external data, but also on character. Thanks to excellent genetic base which has got to breed in the inheritance from a native cat, British possess excellent immunity and a sound health. These cats perfectly get on with children and other animals. The British cats are not persuasive, but with gratitude accept your caress and answer it. They are quiet, friendly, reserved cats similar to plush toys with the counterbalanced temperament that does by their simply ideal house favourites.
